Iress recruits Investment Trends chief

Advice technology provider Iress has appointed a former investment research executive to the newly created role of chief commercial officer.

In a statement, the group said it had appointed Michael Blomfield to chief commercial officer, where he would be responsible for Iress’ business growth objectives, including increasing the firm’s growth at scale.

Previously chief executive at research firm Investment Trends, Mr Blomfield will report to the CEO and will be a member of Iress’ leadership team.

“I am delighted that Michael is joining us in this role. The new role reflects our focus on scale, consistency and delivery, particularly where clients have increasingly similar needs,” Iress chief executive, Andrew Walsh said.

“We also continue to focus on improving the client experience and a focussed strategic approach to this is important to Iress and our clients.

Mr Walsh said that Mr Blomfield is an experienced financial services leader who would bring his extensive international experience spanning across Asia Pacific, the UK and the US.

“This includes leading the equities division at Australia’s largest bank, Commonwealth Bank, as managing director for Asia Pacific for MF Global, and currently as the chief executive of research firm Investment Trends, which provides research and insights to financial services businesses in Australia, Asia, Europe, the US and the UK,” Mr Walsh added.
